FOUNDER & CEO ROBERT THOMPSON
Robert Thompson is a seasoned hospitality entrepreneur, executive and growth-focused CEO with over 20 years of experience creating innovative, immersive concepts that resonate with millennial and Gen Z consumers. Known for blending creativity with operational expertise, Robert has a proven track record of scaling multi-unit operations, managing everything from site selection and design to budgeting, project management, operations, and team culture.
Robert’s career began in 1997 when he founded Buffalo Billiards & Havana Lounge in Nashville, a 22,000 sf dual-concept restaurant that sparked his passion for experiential F&B. Following this success, he launched several award-winning brasseries and polished casual dining concepts, earning four Best NewRestaurant honors.
In 2010, Robert founded Punch Bowl Social, the trailblazing "eatertainment" brand that grew to $120 million in sales across 20 U.S. locations. Known for its elevated diner cuisine, craft beverages, and engaging social experiences, Punch Bowl Social defined the eatertainment category and stayed ahead of consumer trends through Robert9s use of psychographic data. Strategic partnerships with L Catterton and Cracker Barrel (valuing the brand at $185 million) fueled its rapid growth.
Robert’s leadership and creativity have earned him accolades such as Fast Company’s 50 Most Innovative Companies in the World (2019), the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® award, and Nation's Restaurant News “Breakout Brand” and “Hot Concept” honors.
When not creating innovative hospitality experiences, Robert is an avid distance runner and design enthusiast. He lives in Colorado with his wife, Mia, and their three sons.
